Floors upon floors

We're still doing floors. Yeah, that's as exciting as it sounds. Still, things are looking great! Here's some pictures of our recent progress:

This is the master bedroom floor, prepped for paint.

Now, it's painted. That oil-based primer really seals the floor, but it also really makes you hallucinate. So I guess that's a trade-off.

Now, there's foam underlayment. Woot. And one row of boards way on the other side of the room. That's the end of day 1.

Making progress...

And the end of day 2. That's a lot of freaking floor to put in.

We also had to have the drywall guys come back and tape the joints of the new drywall they put in, since it looks like they forgot to do it the first time. Now we have to paint over it.

Going...

Going...Still there. I haven't gotten around to fixing it all, unfortunately. I'll get it, though.

Bathroom: Complete. We still have a little bit of cleanup and the like to do, but nothing major. All the bits and pieces are done, though.

All the mirrors and lights are installed and looking good.

We even have our badass under-sink rollout trays. Awesome, right?

So there you go. That's the state of the house right now. More to come soon, I'm sure. Thanks for reading!

  2. Thanks! Hopefully we'll have the master bedroom done by then, too. Fingers crossed!

  3. You guys are such bad asses. I mean Shawn was okay with getting a house that was a fixer-upper but then found a house in his price range with stained concrete floors, a newly refinished master bath (which isn't nearly as cool as it sounds) and a newly remodeled kitchen...so really wall we ended up doing was painting a few walls and refinishing the other bathroom (which was more like "new sink and toilet"). So yes, I really admire you guys.

    1. There was a heck of a lot to be done, and there's still quite a bit. Once we finish the upstairs, I anticipate the main floor will go pretty quickly, though. There aren't nearly as many walls and corners to slow us down, so the floors will be easy to hammer out, and there's a lot less fiddling to do with baseboards and all. Just talked to the contractor who did our bathroom about doing the kitchen today, and I think we can make it work. Woot!
